Marco Baratieri is Professor of Thermal Engineering and Industrial Energy Systems at the Free University of Bolzano (Italy) and Head of the “Bioenergy & Biofuels Laboratory”. Professor Baratieri and his group conduct research primarily in the field of thermochemical conversion of biomass, energy analysis and modelling. Along with his team Prof. Baratieri has been in the forefront of novel thermochemical conversion topics, especially in the field of biomass gasification and valorization of gasification by-products. Between the years 2012-2015, he developed the GaST project, which was an unique study that included the monitoring and assessment of small-scale biomass gasifiers. During the last years, Prof. Baratieri and his group work mainly on catalytic tar cracking, Fischer-Tropsch reforming of producer gas and on the operation of novel gasification and HTC units installed at the new “Bioenergy & Biofuels” Labs that are located at the NOI TechPark in Bolzano.
